The history of a truly talented breed
The German Wirehaired Pointer originates from Germany where it is still one of the most popular breeds in its homeland and the most popular breed for hunting.
The breed was developed in the late 19th century by a group of enthusiasts looking to develop a truly versatile hunting dog. The group combined the traits of a number of different breeds and through selection produced a breed capable of tremendous hunting drive and stamina on land and water.
The ancestral breeds of the DD include the Deutsch Kurzhaar, Stichelhaar, Pudelpointer and Griffon
